Dear Dr. Michael: I want to thank you for giving me my freedom back. I thought that I would always have this restriction of having to wear corrective lens for the rest of my life. I couldn't even see my feet without them. I had been wearing corrective lenses since I was seven years old. I was in shock when I first found out I was considered legally blind without my glasses while dealing with stresses of starting high school. My eyes got worse though time and the ongoing damage finally came to an end when my prescription reached 14.75 in both of my eyes. After extensive research about Lasik surgery, I decided it was time for me to go see a doctor. I make an appointment with a local doctor, known for his Lasik surgery at low costs, which by the way charges $250 just for pre-consultation. I was very disappointed after waiting for almost four hours followed by a quick 2-3 minute consultation with the Dr. Boothe himself, he said, "You are not qualified for Lasik", as he continued telling his assistant to "process my refund". He did not explain why I was not qualified and no other options were explored. I was disheartened with his quick analysis and had begun to lost hope. I called many other local doctors' (Lasik) offices in town, but just after listening to my situation, they all advised me not to even make an appointment as they could not help me. Then, I called your office, Dr. Mazaheri and asked if I can make an appointment. I explained my situation to your staff over the phone; staff consulted with the doctor about my situation and asked me to come into the office for a FREE consultation. I was very pleased to see someone who was willing to at least do some due diligences before rejecting me. With on consultation fee and doctor still wanted to see me! I had nothing to lose. To cut this long story short, I had a late appointment 6:00 pm but I could not make it and called the office to reschedule for some other day. Instead, you kept your office open and kept the staff until 8:00 pm that evening to see me, for FREE. Dr. M, you and your staff are amazing and compassionate provider. To me a great doctor is the one who dedicates his time to each and every patient with genuine compassion. You not only waited but listened to my entire story, explained everything to my satisfactions and gave me choices at the end. I must have asked hundreds of questions and every time they were answered with great patience and I really admire his attribute. I was also very pleased that you performed all the work on me and make me feel comfortable throughout the process. I knew exactly what was going to happen through the entire process from pre-consultation, surgery and post surgery. I had my surgery done in late 2005 and my life has changed in an incredible way without corrective lenses. I was and am so impressed with the results that I have referred many of very close friends to your office and they all are extremely satisfied with the results. You and your staff are simply incredible and what they do. I remember you telling me before the surgery, and that stills sticks with me today; you said "I want to put all the care I can in my patients so and I can sleep peacefully at night."Â I knew right away that someone very special is going to be taking care of me and my eyes.
